  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I travel to customers house either fixing faults or installing CPE and giving them the low down on how the equipment works

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt very technical skills which are useful for home use as well. I had never used tools before which sounds silly, however I am now very confident in using them. I have also been able to massively develop my people skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Every aspect. I meet lots of different people that I work with and are fantastic and the customers aswell. Ibreally enjoy working with the products as you do get great satisfaction that you have set someone yet.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised with clear instructions. The programme did.changeba fair bit but due to covid I can appreciate the company was adapting.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Loads. There are so many people that can help. You can always talk to fellow techs, or managers. As an apprentice, we are also given an apprentice support specialist who has been a technician so knows exactly what they're doing

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Every 3 weeks we get a study day towards the apprenticeship. We get support throughout the day but we need to get hold of out development coach on any other day, we can do.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As we were taught an awful lot about the telecomms industry, it has helped massively with my understanding of the industry

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • All the time. There's a commitee that always puts events on. Whether its learning about other aspects of the business, or doing yoga, there's always something. You can get involved in site tours as well

  • Yes

  • Great team, products, benefits and just a great company to work for. You're not treated as a number.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
  • Show interest in anything and everything. Get your name known. It will help in the future if you want to go into other areas of the business. One big thing is DO YOUR RESEARCH! Hugely important.
