  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • To lead, manage and develop the Soft Facilities Team, within the Property & Assets Service. This involves provision of soft FM services to buildings under the Corporate Landlord model, including Health and Safety compliance, contracts, catering, scanning, budgets, property programmes (transformation and office rationalisation)

  • Time Management, Contract Management, communication and negotiation skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. The mix of work and learning is a great combination. It provides good coverage of key skills, which not only reinforces what I have previously learnt but also provides an opportunity to develop those skills and learn new ones.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured. Tutor is great. All the activities and assignments are structured within BUD and there is a clear pathway to learn.

  • Employer is fantastic. Help and advice is always available and the Council's 'Learning Hub' provides valuable learning materials

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Very good support. Regular 1:1's, and can be contacted outside of these for advice and support

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It reinforces previous leaning, but also provides me with an opportunity to reflect and develop my knowledge and skills.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Unfortunately, COVID has hampered social and sporting activities, but have been able to link up online for various networking events i.e. office furniture webinars.

  • Yes

  • Dorset Council has flexible working arrangements and is a very supportive organisation in terms of learning and development. There are so many career paths you can choose and opportunities to explore.

  • Be open to learning and developing, and willing to take on new responsibilities.
