  • My role is a civils engineer controller. I work towards scheduling jobs to engineers. This involves vetting jobs and scheduling accordingly. I take calls and work towards getting jobs fluid to reach targets.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot about civils engineers and how they work. I have improved my interpersonal skills and have become more confident in my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship. There is lots to learn and I have great support from my apprenticeship mentor [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions].

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised. Our classroom sessions and 1-2-1's are always booked in advance and we have clear guidelines as to what work needs completing and when it is due.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Openreach are always there to support me if needed. Management is easy to speak to/raise any issues to. I also have very supportive colleagues who are always happy to help if I am stuck on anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again there is lots of support from my apprentice mentor [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]. She is supportive and understanding. She is always available if I have any query's.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my particular apprenticeship does not relate that much to the role at the moment. My qualification relates to customer service whereas we don't deal with customers face on in my role. Saying this Raylia tries to relate it to my role the best she can.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are often events happening in the office building and lots of things you can get involved in.

  • Yes

  • I have really enjoyed my time at Openreach so far. There are lots of opportunities for development.
