  • My virtual experience involved a lot of interactivity with the 4 different streams of the business - as well as different tips and hints into how I can progress my career through school leaver apprenticeships as well as develop a business acumen.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your virtual experience?
  • I learnt a lot about how to network and be unique - as well as being able to express yourself and make sure you are seen on different platforms. I also learnt the art of communication and resilience.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your virtual experience?
  • I really liked the experience because there was a lot of information which was concise and accurate - allowing me to gain a coherent and holistic insight into how the business operates both within the company and with clients (as well as team collaboration with NGOs).

  • It was very well organised and split into a whole clear timetable on two different platforms which were easy to navigate through.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a lot about the BDO mottos and the idea of “be yourself” - different organic communities have been created on that basis and being able to express yourself freely (not change). It’s a great work environment.

  • 6. How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • It really helped in giving me more information on accounting and helping me overcome that uncertainty on whether or not it is a really interesting path to take (which it is!).

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • No - it was a free virtual work experience. However there was a lot of great merchandise that was sent over for us to use.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were several opportunities for networking as there were many teams calls face to face with members of the early in careers team - as well as that we were able to network with members of the 4 streams Tax, Advisory, BS&O, Audit through the different platforms.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • - The culture within the company is great with a lot of charity work and volunteering - The way they project themselves is so professional and willing to incorporate everyone - It is an international business and they use their global influence very well


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
  • - Put forward the skills that you have learnt and make sure you back them up with examples as evidence - communication, resilience etc - Be concise and willing - Research a bit about the company and it’s values beforehand - Be Yourself :)
