  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Looking after children, writing observations chaining nappies helping toilet train, supper using meal/ snack time generally supervise them in the garden and in the day to day environment, I have a few 1-1 children that I work with alongside doing observations on all 10 of my key children. It is hard sometimes but I absolutely love my job

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Not very much, I struggle to find time to complete it as I work 5 days a week, 4 evenings a week and on a Saturday so I struggle to get time to do my work, and make deadlines, as by the time I’ve finished work just want to sleep

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It’s not to bad, but sometimes I don’t have a clue what I’m doing, after my zoom and I’m just reminded to look at smart assessor but I don’t always find it helpful but I’m not one to ask for help! I would rather struggle though than feel like I’m bugging my assor

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yeah I’ve made some really hood friends, since working at this nursery, before Covid we used to all go out at least once a month, we have gone on nights out and even paintballing! We also went to badminton once a week. Since Covid we have changed to zoom calls. Any training we are put on we are done in pairs so we can go together!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aspiration to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it helps them to get started in a career and I’m sure if they are more vocals than me they would smash the course I know 3 people who have completed the course in my nursery alone, and they have completed it one struggled with it and didn’t have a lot of support but the others did! It has helped them all get on go onto new jobs and are away with thier jobs

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aspiration?
  • Good luck be prepared to work 5 days a week and have to do the course on top it becomes a bit much at times, especially if you work 2 jobs . It is easy to do if you have more time to complete it and know what your doing! Sometimes it’s a bit hard for me I do struggle
