1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Cable engineer at open reach driving vans that pull trailers and installing cables in the underground network

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I’ve learnt how to detect which cables are copper and which are fibre, how to safely work in a road using signing and lighting and how to open box lids with a gas detector

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Really enjoy the programme.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think it is structured well but we don’t really have a point of contact as of yet. I think this is down to the volume of apprentices coming through

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots of support. I’d like to have just the one buddy though so they can monitor our work and keep u with what we have learnt and what we havent

Not started any support yet. Coming to the end of my buddying stage now

I feel like it will be a great help in the field

Yes

Great company to work for so far. Feel really looked after. Looking forward to getting my wage bumped up at the end of the apprenticeship
