  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work daily with technical architects, project leadership, Dev Ops and IT professionals. As an apprentice, I observe and discuss the work while learning the fundamentals, gradually I will gain more direct hands on experience in a controlled environment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am learning practical technical skills while studying a masters degree. I have learned huge amounts of 'generalised' understanding of technology e.g. project structure / software design / cloud architecture. However still at a very early stage and excited to learn more and more.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • For my needs, the programme is ideal. I have a fair balance of managerial support but independence to sense out and build towards my own interests / aspirations in a new technical career.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The company itself is an efficient machine - the programme means that we join and integrate with that. From my experience in the workplace the learning path is clear while my studies are relevant and suitable for the knowledge requirements of a technical career.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As much as required at any point - good leadership for my needs.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The skills and knowledge we are taught is relevant and useful. To be critical, some aspects of teaching could be optimised to take advantage of the shifting conditions e.g. remote / digital. Overall good for what is needed for the programme to be a success for my expectations.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • A broader understanding of the technology landscape / composition of technical work and routines which can be difficult to 'self teach' or learn from hands on work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not particularly so far and this is inhibited due to the current working from home guidelines. However, the options available and opportunities to do so are vast and well considered. The online events i've attended have been very professional, well planned and insightful.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The ability to be supported without immediate expectations is valuable - leadership appreciates the value in nurturing growth over time to realise an eventual greater value of the employee. Also there is an incredible amount of technical roles / directions and skills to be exposed to and learn from.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Consider the value of your soft skills e.g. communication and teamwork and the importance / critical need for this in technology, besides the standard technical aspects of their work.
