  • To provide EU with FTTP services whether that is from Overhead or Underground, fault finding and repairs

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst on the apprenticeship I have learnt new key skills that are job specific which include signs lighting and guard, pole, ladder and steps training to allow me to provide over head cables and hand rodding to allow me to provide cables from the under ground network. I have also complete fibre foundation course where I learnt how to arc weld two fibers to complete the connection.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the apprenticeship side of the role, but believe there could be improvements made for the actually physical job and work allocation as at times it i feel under pressure to complete tasks whilst also collecting photos and evidence for my portfolio

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Great structure to apprenticeship and Kevin Elliot has been great in supporting any questions that I have had whilst on apprenticeship days with him.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Kevin supports whilst on apprenticeship days is second to known and if there is questions he doesn’t initially have the answers to he will get them for me! Brilliant work from Kevin!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again Kevin has supported me on any issues or questions I have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that it will allow me to continue my high level of quality and notice what is and isn’t correct when I’m out in the field. Will also expand my knowledge of the telecoms business

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I regularly take part in carp fishing and watching my local rugby club to show support to the players that I used to play with. Also enjoy DIY I am currently renovating my flat.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Due to the long career paths that are available and such diverse job roles


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Be open minded and not afraid to ask questions if you are unsure. As it’s all relevant and will help you learn. Not question is a stupid question
