  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At the moment I am currently working within CR-V-B-1. Whilst I have been here, I have been supporting the department with new bespoke architecture project, to streamline the process, I have carried out workshops with the project managers and prepared information for them. I have recently returned to work and have felt comfortable being here.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed many skills whilst I have been working at Rolls Royce. Since starting in 2017 I have developed my team working skills and confidence when working within a team. I have learnt to become more outspoken regarding my opinions. I have also gained more knowledge regarding the automotive manufacturing world.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme a lot. I have made some good friends whilst being part of the apprenticeship prgramme at Rolls Royce. The time at college was well spent improving these friendships. I have also enjoyed the work side of the apprenticeship too, as it has been extremely interesting gaining a new insight.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Unfortunately, the organisation and communication has been poor throughout the course of my apprenticeship. I have felt that times, I have been left in the dark regarding my future in the business and also what is asked of me. The communication between Rolls Royce and Chichester College has been poor too, from the outside, it looks like they do not communicate at all. Currently, I am having communication issues regarding the recruitment team and I am having to chase a lot.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • This is a mixed situation. I have had free rein to explore any department that I have wished to, this has been very beneficial to me. I also do not feel worried to contact my manager with any issues that I might be having. However, I feel like there is not enough support or guidance as to where I am able to go once my apprenticeship is complete

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The college support has been good for the most part. At the start of the apprenticeship the support structure changed often, due to the fact that our apprentice coach seemed to change every other week. This left quite a lot of things up in the air. However, we have since had a more permanent coach and things have gotten a lot better.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • In the first two years of our apprenticeship, the course that we were put on was not very relevant to our roles within the business, this is personally speaking. However, the new course is much more relevant and more enjoyable. However, I feel like this shouldn't have been left so late to change. It should've been something that was quickly addressed and moved on from at the start.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am sure that there are many activities that I am able to get involved in within the business. However, I am not sure where to find these activities or who to contact if I want to join some extra curricular activities. Depending on what is available I may be interested in joining.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Although there have been many ups and downs during my apprenticeship, it has still been very enjoyable and I have made some good memories whilst I have been working here. I feel like there are some areas that could still be improved to make the apprenticeship even better. Looking at the company as a whole, it is a very good company to work for

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • They should make sure that this is something that they truly want to do. Joining Rolls Royce is a very big commitment to make, especially an apprenticeship. It is also good to have an idea of what you want to do or where you want to go before you start
