  • I assist my line manager who is a QS with day to day site based activities such as assessing subcontractors accounts, processing payments, procurement, managing change, site walks and assisting with other commercial responsibilities.

  • I have developed my inter personal skills throughout working at Sisk. I have developed my technical understanding of construction and the commercial role involved in construction.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme and particularly enjoy working on site doing QS based activities. the learning content with UCEM is broad and develops a range of knowledge relating to the built environment.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel as though my work is well structured and organised however I feel as though some of the assignment could be better timed to relieve some pressure at certain points in the year.

  • I gain lots of support from my peers and feel as though my on and off the job training is well supported

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I know where I can receive support should I need it and feel as though there is enough content provided by my learning provider to support and progress my knowledge and understanding.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel a lack of correlation between what I learn off the job and what I do when working. looking at future modules however, I think this will change and become more relevant as time moves on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • normally there would be but since C-19 there has naturally been less social activities available to take part in.

  • Yes

  • I enjoy working for Sisk and think that the company all round is a great company to work for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to John Sisk & Sons?
  • Research Sisk and the projects they work on and type of work Sisk do and understand the business as a whole, this could set you apart from others in your interview/ application process.
