  • My role is to rod and rope through various connection points and then pull fibre cables through for them to be spliced and connected to customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills while being on this apprenticeship from practical skills while on the field to technical skills by working on our devices and laptops.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it very much and would recommend anyone to try join as soon as possible.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised, alot of notice is given to tasks you have to do on your apprenticeship days.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • 10/10 support is given to me by my fellow colleagues, assessor and manager. Everyone understands that they were once in your trainee position and remain humble enough to help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Steve supports us very well by making us send drafts of work to him so that he can browse over it and let us know about any mistakes or things we can add in.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It certainly gives me a better understanding of the whole telecoms network and makes me feel alot more confident.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As far as I know so far, not much but Covid has played a strong part against those type of things happening. Hopefully in the future I can participate in some events.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because openreach give you a great platform in order for you to progress as high as possible. The sky is the limit, its just up to you how much you want to succeed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • To never give up if you have an unsuccessful application. It took me 3 times before I was successful.
