Partnership and partner tax compliance and advisory

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have vastly improved my technical knowledge related to tax through internal training and part of my ACA qualification. I have also improved my communication skills.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I do enjoy the programme. It can sometimes be challenging to work full time alongside studying for a professional qualification. However, this helps me to focus on improving my time management skills.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well structured. However, I have had some minor issues with poor organisation related to exam planning.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive ample support. My colleagues reply to messages quickly and are very helpful.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have not needed to seek extra support regarding my qualifications. I have found that I am given enough resources to find out the answers myself generally.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The technical tax knowledge has helped me with client work and I now have more of a broader understanding of accounting.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I haven't actually been to this office yet due to covid, but it seems like there are plenty of social events and team building activities.

Yes

BDO offers a supportive programme which ables you to complete your ACA exams while getting real world experience.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?

Understand that work needs to be your main focus and if you're not 100% commited then you most likely won't last the whole trainining programme. Be keen to learn.
