  • Working in the copper network for telecoms company Openreach. Providing, fault finding, restoring service to end users in regard to telephone and broadband services.

  • Learned lots of new skills, have learned telecoms engineering from scratch. Climbing Poles, Working in confined spaces, Working and developing communication skills with the public.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have come to really enjoy and look forward to the job and what the job brings. The NVQ was structured well, categorised well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Programme was well structured. However got off to a slow start due to staff change and new allocation of my assessor. My new assessor was very good and approachable and always got back to me.

  • Lots of support once my new assessor was allocated to me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots of support, happy.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Lots of transferable skills have been gained and the training really helped set me up in the real world examples.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes theres some sports teams, like a rugby group, and some fund raising events etc.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • New skills, company pay to be skilled up, lots of perks, great salary, vehicle and tools and clothing provided, lots of help and support from management.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Be yourself, be totally honest, you will have to be ok with heights, dogs, pets, confined spaces, spiders!
