  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I provide Fibre broadband to the public in their homes. I start each day with 3 appointments and i arrive at each and install an line of fibre to the premises. This can include climbing telegraph poles or working in manholes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes i have acquired many new skills like Climbing, Rodding, Drilling, Learning the Fibre telecoms network.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme so far. It's very hands on.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very. We have an appointed assessor to guide us through.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support. We have a Manager and 3 Patch leads that are all just a call away. They are open minded and very supportive in all situations i have come across.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our Apprenticeship assessor is always available to help with queries.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps us prove we have learnt all we need to complete the role. Backing up all the knowledge we have learnt.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have plenty of oppurtunities for more learning and skill obtaining.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a breath of fresh air. A role where you can work indepently but still feel part of a team. Learn new things everyday. Each day is different. Lots of opportunities to up skill further.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Keep an open mind and be ready to get hands on.
