  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is going around my area fixing and maintaining faults that may occur within the telecommunication networks that BT has. The day varies which is good as I am doing different faults every day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a bunch of new skills within this industry, ones that I never really new about before joining the company. I have also developed existing skills working with new people and a new work team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme that BT have put the apprentices through i feel college could've been a longer duration as it was only 6 block weeks within the first year. However the rest of the learning is done on the job and through training courses that BT provide.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Yeah it is well organised, people are always there to help you out and make life easier for you.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support if needed. there are many people that i could go to for help whether its my buddy that I work with on a day to day basis, my manger or even my NVQ assessor people are always there to offer support if needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My NVQ assessor is always a phone call or an email away if I am ever stuck on any of the work that he has given me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • when we attended college for the 6 week blocks they talked us through the basics of networks and how a telecoms network works. this gave us the basic building blocks to understand our role, rather than going in blind.

  • yes there are professional networking events that people can get involved with if any of them interest them all they would have to do is apply.

  • Yes

  • Good company to work for. lifelong job with good benefits.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • On the webcam interview that people have to complete be confident and just go for it. it is a little strange to do however just be confident.
