  • Daily role consisted of laboratory work consisting of cell assay work and lentiviral production and purification. in addition had a 50/50 split with office work comprising of statistical data analysis and experiment planning

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • New skills: biology based: cell work, physical and infectious lentiviral analytical assays, production and purification of lentivirus including chromatography, dia/ultra-filtrations. personal skills: patience, importance of planning.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed my programme as it gave me an amazing insight into the industry while gaining a degree qualification, it gave me the head start with 5 years of industry experience before getting a career. the insight into several different departments broadened my understanding and knowledge of what it means to work in this industry. working for a large company like GSK also gave me valuable experience with ways of working, email/office etiquettes, working with people from different backgrounds.

  • A reasonable about of support from employer when needed, it is up to managers discretion.

  • the support from training provider could be better. communication lacks

  • It provides necessary biology background knowledge which allows me to understand and broaden my skills at work

  • Yes we have an apprenticeship organisation which keep us in contact with eachother organise socials and networking events

  • Be yourself, they like to see passion and love for the subject, its not about your grades or what information you know. ITs your life and work values and wether that fits into GSK ways of working. Be yourself stand out.
