  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I look through our emails daily and move them to the specific folders they meet the requirements for. As well as on certain occasions I will look through the post we receive and will scan documents through to the same folders they belong to like I would do on the computer electronically. However because of COVID I have been working from home for the whole of last year and haven't been able to take on board the skills I should have already by now, if I had been learning within the office.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • After I complete this course I will have gained my qualification for Business Administration Level 2. As well as a number of different skills, such as learning spreadsheets using office equipment and formatting letters/responses to customers. I'm looking forward to returning to the office to build on my skills, and become more confident within my role by practicing my work physically in the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have been enjoying my apprenticeship so far and look forward to my return to be able to build more on my skills and knowledge within the workplace. All my other team members are very friendly and I feel comfortable when I need help to ask for it amongst my team. Nobody expected this year to turn out the way it did, but now I'm just excited to return to work and keep progressing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say yes. This is because my tutor had a consistent check up with me, these being meetings or recorded discussions etc. She ensured I had everything I needed in order to reach a pass. I had to do majority of training online which I would have preferred in person but with our situation it was the best it could have been. I felt it was very difficult for me to answer certain units within my coursework as I wasn't physically working in the office gaining the experience that is being asked for myself to explain. However i was given the best way to answer them and tried to complete best that i could from home.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have not worked in the office properly so I don't feel that I have had enough experience to make a comment on this. However we have a group chat which we used daily to communicate with one another, and I was clearly shown that i can ask for help whenever with anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I was given all the guidance that was needed in order to reach all marks in my units. As well as given extra worksheets or even revision papers which helped me when revising or composing pieces of coursework.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have not yet been able to put my theory into practice as of yet as I haven't returned back to the office. I look forward to returning and putting my practice into work physically, as well as building on my experience and skills set also. What I learn from my apprenticeship I believe will help me with my day-to-day work life, I am looking forward to putting it to use in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I'm not too sure as of yet. I do know my company does however fund us with the extra money to pay for our Gym memberships which motivates quite a few of us to join.

  • 9a. Would you recommend JBW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the atmosphere and the employees are brilliant! The workplace is a smart, professional business that still gives you freedom and ensures you feel as comfortable as possible. When I have felt stuck or uncertain about anything, another one of our team have corrected me or guided me in what it is I should do or even how I can do something easier.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JBW Group?
  • I would advise them to make sure they are capable of working on a computer majority of the day as this is what the role consists of. And if they are irritated easily or distracted that they might want a more hands on physical job, rather than an office role.
