  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained a lot of new and developed a lot of new skills. For example, my communications skills need to be good in order to delegate new work to the new joiners and also make sure I am clear what the senior members of my team need from me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my job it is far more challenging than I ever thought but I also think the job is far better than I ever thought as well. The opportunities I have had have been really interesting but demanding projects where I have also had the opportunity to develop my client relationships.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is extremely well organised. I have had a lot of training and support from my team who are more than happy to jump on a call should I need to discuss exams/work projects etc. to check in. The exams team are also very good at communicating my exam pathway and when I am out for college.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is very supportive and is really approachable should I have any questions on my upcoming exams. The exams team are also really good at reminding us to speak to them if we need any additional support during exam season and hold drop in sessions near the exams which are very useful

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I would say we don't receive a great deal of support from our training provider in that we only have two weeks of actual contact college and the first weeks of college are usually self taught so it is only later in the course I would say we get support from Kaplan.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I definitely believe my qualifications and exams are useful to my job. As I work in Tax some are obviously less relevant to my job, however the tax exams I found really helpful and as I go through the grades I find I am applying more of the exam syllabus to my actual day job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a social committee who organise events every quarter, and during the pandemic they would organise virtual events which were great to stay connected. We also are allowed a day off every May for a volunteering day. This usually involves the whole team going to a park or charity to get involved with local initiatives. There are also various teams sports who play weekly, e.g. football cricket.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • While the job is challenging and is not a 9-5 job the experiences and projects I have gotten involved with are far better than I would have gotten at another firm and I genuinely feel valued at work by my team which is very fulfilling and I have learnt so much in just under 2 years.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Be yourself, the assessments and interview are meant for the recruiters to see who will fit in at PwC, if you are a fit that will shine through. I would also say get involved with all conversations but be mindful of two things. A.) do not talk too much that you dominate the discussions and B.) if you have noticed someone is very quiet and not saying anything ask them for their opinion/thoughts.
