  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Auditing of company financials and providing assurance on prepared accounts. The audit work we complete covers a variety of areas, and can be for a differing range of clients and in differing industries - this gives us a varied day to day experience and provides us with differing challenges to face

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed communication skills, liaising with higher members of staff at varied clients. Gained a comprehensive understanding of various accounting elements. The knowledge you gain from an early stage, paired with the contact you have with different levels of management both internally and externally provides you with a solid foundation for future employment

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has a variety of opportunities and client diversity which makes the programme very varied. The work is complex and challenging, and is varied in it's nature. Sometimes work can be similar from the offset, but as you progress in the firm you get more exposure to differing areas.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has a clear structure with progression levels and stages of development. The different stages of exams are clearly staged and planned. The promotions from level to level is also set out very clearly, and there is a very clear pathway for us to follow from the start to finish of our programme

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The employer provides significant amounts of support for college/workplace/external matters. There are buddies, who are in the year above and provide us with support initially. We also get provided with a set career coach and also a talent coach from the learning provider who gives us support for the college areas.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider has provided a variety of support through classroom/virtual/communications which aid the qualification progress. As mentioned above we also have a set talent coach who is assigned to provide us with more tailored and individual support for our journey through the programme which helps us with any issues and challenges.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification which we are working towards is undoubtedly a very helpful programme which aligns well with our day to day role. The accounting principles and knowledge which we pick up from the college work we are doing helps enormously with our day job, especially through the professional level stage

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a variety of extra curricular activities which we can get involved with. There are various groups within the office for different societies, and also sporting groups which meet outside of work such as cricket and football. These have obviously reduced with the pandemic, but there are historically various activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • PwC is a great firm for development and undoubtedly opens various doors both within the firm and externally. The variety of work and different opportunities which we have access to from an early stage is something which is not available to most graduate programmes, so it is a key benefit for us


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • The classic tips for applying are to be yourself within the interview process, and to focus on your strengths. You should make sure you are familiar with the application process and what you can expect from any assessments and meetings. However the different stages are not too daunting and are aimed at enabling you to show your best self
