  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As part of Openreach Trainee Engineer, I work for the Service Delivery team. I am proud to be responsible of fixing telephone lines and internet for home residents, MHO and businesses (small, medium to big corporation). Everyday I learn new skill.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt great amount of Engineering core theoretical skills as well as Practical "Hand-on" skills needed to do my everyday job. I am grateful to be trained at Peterborough TEC, one of the country's leading Training Centre. I have learnt how to climb pole - 9M to 12M Overhead (Telegraph) Pole. I have learnt how to drive a van and be able to control the vehicle better, as I never drove a van before, although been driving for over 13 yrs.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed my Training at Openreach. The training has taught me great deal on Health and Safety. I consider lucky I work for an organisation who considers my safety as their No.1 Priority. The training has given me the confidence to do my job, especially in Service Delivery when working alone most of the time. Openreach invested alot in me in providing me the training, accommodation. I have my uniform and van provided, plus PPE, tools, testers, laptop and Phone.

  • THE TRAINING FROM OPENREACH IS WELL STRUCTURED, WELL PLANNED AND CAREFULLY PLANNED FROM THE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am able to reach out to any support I require.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I look upto my Training Provider as he is really good at what he does. He ensures I am okay with my Apprenticeship programme as well as my Patch area (employer). I get full support from him. I feel I can talk to him about any problem I have. He also helps me understand better with the Mathematics and English when I am struggling. He has better version of explaining things which makes it easier for me to understand. My Training Provider believes in me and in return this builds my confidence in doing my qualification. He shares his knowledge experience to make my job at the Patch area easier. He is helpful and a humble person.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The Level 2: Telecoms Field Operative qualification helps me to perform my role better because most of the criteria are based on my day to day responsibility at what I do at work. It is simply a record of my day's work and I get to share my experiences with proofs that I have completed a job or two.

  • We have our own social media.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they provide a fine and tailored training with wealth of theoretical knowledge. They also train you to do you work as per Company's Policy and as per Health and Safety At work Regulation Act. They provide you with uniform and vehicle. They offer a promising career and really cares for your well being. They are more rewards.
