  • 1. Please give an overview of what your virtual experience involved:
  • At Pinsent Masons, I had numerous panel discussions with those in the legal sector as well as numerous activities giving me further insight into law, like the copyright activity. I also had a mentor, whom explained their journey and how they entered their career path into law.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your virtual experience?
  • I learnt debate skills, used in the jaffa cake activity, as well as learning what skill set is necessary in order to be successful in the legal sector. I also received advice on CVs and Personal Statements, therefore my skill set has advanced in the area of applications for university.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your virtual experience?
  • I throughly enjoyed my time during the course of the Pinsent Masons work experience. It broke down many stereotypes of the legal sector, including that which surrounds a healthy life/work balance. It also allowed me to attain new skills and help me learn what i need to do to excel.

  • 4. How well organised was your virtual experience?
  • My virtual work experience was very well organised with Pinsent Masons. We were emailed weeks in advanced with an introduction day to briefly talk about what we were going to be using. Additionally, the work experience was through a platform called Forage, which enabled easy access to meeting links and activities.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a lot about the company culture, especially during day two. They explained their ethics and how it is extremely important for them to have an equal and diverse company culture which considers your work/life balance carefully. They seem to prioritise the mental and physical health of their employees.

  • 6. How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • My virtual work experience with Pinsent Masons helped me greatly in deciding my future career path. It broke down many stereotypes that surround working in the legal sector which put my mind at ease. They portrayed law as exciting and relevant, and that law can be very impactful and makes a true difference.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • No i was not paid for my virtual work experience at Pinsent Masons, as I am a Year 12 Student and the work experience was mainly an Insight Week. However, I was very grateful for the opportunity and never needed financial incentive to convince me to apply as i wanted too regardless.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were no networking opportunities, as it was mainly insight in the Pinsent Masons work experience. However, we did meet other employees who explained what it is like to work at the law firm and what their typical day to day looks like, which was very interesting to learn about

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They’re a very considerate law firm, who clearly care greatly regarding their company culture. They seem to greatly care about fairness, equality and diversity which are amazing characteristics of a law firm and i imagine working there in the future would provide a comfortable, safe and work environment.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • Applying to Prime is incredibly useful, as this particular event was through Prime. I would advise purely to be advantageous when having experience with Pinsent Masons as it is an amazing opportunity which gives you great insight into what life is like in a law firm and what is needed when becoming a lawyer.
