  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a carer is to provide personal care and support to our residents, to support team leaders, health checks, look out for any illnesses, or any concerns we have regarding the residents to pass over to management. To make our residents feel happy and supported in our home.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot about dementia, how to give medication, manuel handling, how to provide personal care, safe guarding, working as a team, working solo, how to do obversations, news score, diabetes training, end of life training, assisting family when loved ones are on end of life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my programme, I have learnt so much from doing it, my trainer is amazing and is very supportive, even when I think I can't do things she encourages me, and explains it, and talks me through things I don't understand.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very, I know what I have to do each month, and if I have any questions, or problems with any course work, my trainer is always available.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive, and encouraging, and I have regular feedback and reviews with , I know if I ever had a problem, be it at work or personal, I can always go to them and they will listen and try to help or resolve.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My trainer is amazing, and is always supportive, and encouraging, I always doubt myself, and is always at the end of the phone or email, I feel I can be myself with her, and she explains things to me well, I wouldn't want anyone else to be my trainer, and I feel I have flourished with my nvq because of her.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It gives me more insight, and knowledge, to help along the training I have had at work, it makes you think and be able to look at things in a more open way, and has made me more confident in my job role, it has given me the confidence to start a new job role as trainee senior carer.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We always try to get involved with the activity staff, if they have event's on requiring staff to dress up and get involved. Sports days, staff can get involved with sponsored walks for raising money for equipment.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because I feel we give the best care to our residents and families, we don't just look at our roles as a job, we all really care about our residents, and we want to give them the best care possible, that we would want our own loved ones to have.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Faithful house lillian faithful?
  • Come and work with us, you really won't regret it, it's one of the most fulfilling jobs I have ever done and we really are like one big family
