  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within audit, where I work as part of a team to audit companies. This can be a financial statement audit, CASS compliance or insolvency. We look at each line in the financial statement and perform tests to ensure the financial statement accurately reflect the financial position of the company we are auditing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Absolutely. I am much better at navigating PwC's system of testing the financial statements. I have also developed my skills on excel, I have gained an understanding of how we audit companies in general and why it is so important and I have learnt how we test individual FSLIs using the PwC system.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my programme. It has been a great opportunity to have a taste of working life whilst also earning a wage but having the opportunity to go back to university. It's been a great way to put into practice what we have learnt whilst on the course.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised/ structured. It is always clear what is expected of us and we are encouraged to ask any questions if we are uncertain of anything. We are told clear dates of when we start/ finish and are updated during the programme of any changes/ new information given regularly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. The team structure set up within PwC has made it a really welcoming environment to ask questions and clarify any uncertainties I have had. Through emails and plenty of office team calls, I have felt connected to the firm and able to ask for support if needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I feel very supported. There is a really encouraging and positive environment where I don't feel worried to get something wrong, instead i feel it encouraged to ask for any help if i am struggling and am in an environment where I can thrive. It will definitely help me reach my potential.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have used what I have learnt from my training provider and put it into practice in my role. This has allowed to be understand my job more and has also helped me understand the topics we have learnt at university more after using the knowledge in a more practical sense.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have plenty of calendar invites to attend live streams or calls from the Leeds office to country wide. We have invites such as Yoga, HIIT training, live music and lockdown stories. This has allowed the job to feel very sociable and has given me the opportunity to meet new people with similar interests.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Pwc have been a really supportive company. I think they have provided me with an excellent opportunity to learn plenty of new skills and have given me the chance of a job in a particularly difficult economic environment. I have enjoyed the work/uni balance of being a flying start and has given me a taste of what working for a big company looks like.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Go for it! Try and be confident when you go for your assessment day- even if it can be scary. Read business news and be aware of what is going on in terms of the economy. At the end of the day, be yourself, try and enjoy it and try your best!
