  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • There was always something to do whilst working at PWC! Whether this be talking to clients or helping other team members with work that involved testing of different FSLIs. I got to work on different areas of the trial balance on different jobs, in the manufacturing industry and financial as well.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I have been able to fully develop my theory skills and apply them into the real world at pwc. I got to fully utilise excel and other software in order to complete my work to the best of my abilities. Also I have developed my communications skills, especially wirth working from home.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • Overall I fully enjoyed my work experience I was able to embrace the working life and have some time away from my university degree. PWC was welcoming and I was able to ask as many questions as I liked. As the experience took place over a virtual environment, it was tricky in some situations with technical issues.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The communication was always transparent and I was able to message anybody and they got back to me within a good timeframe. Before joining the firm on placement we had a good process of things were going to work. Support was always there and I had many points of contact

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a fair bit of knowledge whilst on my work experience, I could see myself working at that office in the future. I got on very well with all people I worked with as everyone was really welcoming. I hope to see this continue as I go into the office next year

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • It gave me a definite indicator that I want to go into this industry in the future, the accounting sector/audit and assurance. I was able to speak to people whilst on this work experience as well for their insights and what they;ve been through themselves. Speaking to my buddy and career coach also.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was fully paid for all hours I had worked whilst on this work experience, also for any overtime I did was all chargeable hours. I did not need to reimburse any expenses such as travel or food costs and I worked all from home whilst on this work experience.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • As this experience was unfortunately all virtual due to the covid-19 pandemic, there was no opportunities to meet up with any employees or networking with others. However this didn't stop from any socials happening! I took part in team social calls and that way we could network with each other

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a full experience that offers you so much. You are able to choose what pathway you would like to follow and have a chance to work on different areas on the trial balance. The people are lovely at PWC also, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to any job I was on!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Make sure to fully research the firm and the industry to see if that's something you would be interested in! Take control of your studies and work hard to make it happen, the industry is very competitive! Look at the universities that offer this degree programme as its a fast track to qualifying as an accountant.
