  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my daily task as a FND jointer is to make sure that the ODF and Aggs are all spliced properly and will be ready for fibre to go live in that area. Depend on where I am located depends on who I interact with on the team. there are more weekly interactions externally than there is internally. the responsibilities i have are to be safe and work in a safe environment for myself, colleges and public

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the work, in my old job i use to dread getting up and going in to work because it was always the same from being moaned at for other peoples lack of work to dealing with bad and aggressive customers. plus being home at decent times to see my girlfriend and son and spend more time with them. the team i am in is great we all get along and there is decent banter

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • they have been great from the go, to understand my home life where i didnt have to go away for training and just had to commute daily. there has been great support from the trainers in the school to people on the team all giving out work numbers and to call if need be with any help or questions i may have

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i have great support from my managers, who ring me up every couple of weeks to see how i am, that am up to date on all the important things, and not just my work but stuff at home is also going good at the same time. if i did need anything i know there only a phone/email away and there are other people i can contact

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • again can not fault them, we have a couple calls a month when we have NVQ days and they are more than happy to help with advise and questions when we are trying to complete the work. may not be as good as doing it in a group but with covid still going on its the next best thing

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • what i am learning on a day to day basis will greatly help in my role on FND in the future as i am learning new things all the time, and the more experience i get the more i will be able to predict and proact instead of reacting to situations or problems that may come up

    9/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • sadly with covid still very high across the country there is not much option for extra-curricular activities to do, all place are on lockdown. but there are talks when it over to do some team building activities like paintball or bowling which i am looking forward too as i enjoy both
