  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • For my first placement at PwC I worked on various evidence gathering activities (EGA) such as Audit of Notes and more specific ones such as Revenue/Investment. I was also involved in daily team meetings to set out the work. I also used connect to request and review documents obtained from the clients

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learned so much about how the Aura software operates and how to navigate through it. Using connect taught me how to interact with the client. My knowledge and excel skills improved a lot since the beginning of the placement. I developed knowledge across a wide range of EGA which will prove useful in future placement

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I liked the programme. The training provided at the very start was insightful and helped me to adapt to the environment. On my first engagement everyone was very supportive and that's when I learned the most. I wasn't booked on my 1st two weeks but I had the chance to undertake some trainings on vantage which was useful. I worked on various clients and the teams I worked with were great in term of support.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured I think. Training in December is very useful so as not to get lost on the very 1st day of work. Vantage is full of resources to help us develop fundamental knowledge. Maybe the teams on which we are booked should be asked to reach out to us 1/2 days before we start working with them so as we have an idea of what to expect

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support is provided. My buddy was very useful when I asked questions during the 1st weeks on the programme. My career coach organised monthly meetings so as to know how the placement was going for me. The support websites are very useful in finding informations and documents.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • University was useful during my placement. Emails were sent to remind us that support was available if we needed it. A meeting was organised for all the FS1 students to see how they were getting on for the placement. They asked whether we were feeling overwhelmed with the work and gave us some tips.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The content learned during classes was relatable to the work performed. By doing it the work we are able to see the practical aspect of the theory we learned. I know so much more about the industry and the job as a whole. I still had to ask my seniors question as sometime the piece of work was a bit more difficult to understand

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I was assigned to a social group where we were able to share our thoughts and get to know each other. Regular friday events were also on my calendar such as cooking tutorials. For some of my engagement we also had half an hour slot to play some games to relax.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The experience I had on my 1st placement was very good. The company culture is great as it involves both hard work and some social events which provides a good balance. Assigned career coach and buddy help you a lot during your 1st few weeks. My team members were very friendly and supportive

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • They should be flexible in their work approach. I think communication is a very important aspect of the work ethic at PwC so they should not be scared to voice out. They should also have knowledge behind the company itself and the work they will be asked to undertake while on placement
