  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is an apprentice android application developer, my daily tasks consist of completing tasks on my project assigned to me, this could range from completing documentation or creating function that will be included in the application we are building. I interact with my team in London on a daily basis as well as conversing with colleages i sit beside. The only interactions i make externally in regards to my job is with my college tutor and NVQ assessor. I have worked on RBS 6 nations project creating an application for the google glass, help create an application for the business park we work on, its called More Cobalt this allows anyone who has an android device and works who on our business park to download the app for free and have access to offers and events across Newcastle, My current project is the IBM Watson project.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have not received any qualifications as of yet as i am only 4 month into my apprenticeship, however i learn new skills almost everyday and my team prepare workshops for me to attend to also increase my knowledge in android.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy everything about my programme, from the people i work with, my team, work load, and the education aspect of it. It has exceeded my expectations and yes i do enjoy it.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I feel valued within my team, this is because the android team started when i joined, although my knowledge with android is still growing i feel i have settled right into my team, and my manager and experienced colleagues always treat me as an equal by setting my tasks that will challenge me.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured overall obviously you do have to set spare time aside to complete college work, but the support is always there. NVQ meetings are always on time and you are always told in advance when a meeting is. Work load within my project is assigned to either me or my colleagues so everyone knows what they are doing. The programme is well structured.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My tutor is incrediably supportive and always goes the extra mile, the feedback we receive in draft work is always helpful and our lessons are also always helpful, I appreciate all the support i get from my training provider.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support i receive within work is mainly from my manager and my team, however the support is always accessible and available all i would need to do is sent HR/mentor and email or send them a message over lync, everyone is always very helpful when it comes to helping apprentices.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • First year of the apprenticeship the salary meets all of criteria to the right but barely, however in the second year it does go up considerable.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Accenture always email you with different events that are happening outside of work and also provide you with certain perks for instance 50% of gym and leisure. Before i started working i attended the gym.

  • Yes

  • It has exceeded all my expectations.

  • Revise, Practise, don't be shy, be presentable and sell yourself.
