  • I am very pleased with how my apprenticeship went. All my physical training, the day to day job role and the NVQ days was perfect.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been in the field for just over a year now and I have already worked in a number of different areas and picked up lots of new skills, which has really boosted my self confidence. I have worked on new sites, retro build, OFR, OCR, ODF and covered for service delivery all within my 1st year.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of my programme and enjoy going into work everyday.

  • The whole structure and organisation of my programme was great.

  • I receive great support from my employer. I know I can go to my manager, patch leads, and colleagues for any support required.

  • I couldn't have had better support during my time working towards my qualifications.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Learning new skills and putting them into practice throughout my training period really has helped me perform better in my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are options for this available. However this year a lot of activities would have been unavailable due to the pandemic and social distancing requirements.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have loved being a part of this company and I want to stay working as an engineer at Openreach for the rest of my working career. I will happily undertake any training etc that will help me progress through the engineer pathway.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Just be yourself, work hard and most importantly be safe at all times.
