  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves a variety of aspects such as general administration duties, working alongside our HR Business Partner to provide advice to employees as well as managers and dealing with daily queries and complaints covering a range of workplace issues. I am also involved in investigation processes and hearings and adapt to the role of note taker whilst supporting the manager and individual. As HR, I have also become a point of contact for employees and managers if they have any concerns or queries which I may be able to either answer for them or provide them with the relevant contact. We support daily with any HR related issues ensuring that processes are followed and confidentiality is guaranteed so that individuals feel at ease and can rely on us as HR.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills such as : Communication skills Initiative Working as part of a team Working independently to answer queries. During my role I have developed many skills as well as learnt new ones which I aim to continue to develop as part of my progression.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my programme so far. I have built good workplace relationships with my team and got to know everyone well which has really helped with my role. I didn't know what to expect when starting my apprenticeship so my programme has exceeded my expectations and I have learnt so much since starting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have regular reviews with my college tutor which keeps me up to date on any assignments and training. I have had a large amount of support from my line manager of which I learn so much from each and every day. I can discuss daily any issues I may have at work and am always kept up to date with my progress.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my line manager. since starting I have learnt a lot from my manager about areas such as behaviours, I have developed a lot of my personal skills and learnt many new things which have all contributed to my apprenticeship and my progress.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support - Progress Review meetings every 6 weeks. I am able to contact my tutor with ease if I have any concerns and can guarantee they will be able to help me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification and my role go hand in hand as I can apply them to each other which makes my learning stronger. For example, a lot of the assignments revolve around the company I work for and therefore give me some time to think in more detail about the workplace structure - this makes my understanding greater.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently due to Covid a lot of these things would be cancelled. However, I am sure after Covid these opportunities will be available.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They offer a lot in regards to Apprenticeships and there are a variety of opportunities in place for all.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans?
  • There are a lot of opportunities and a variety of training available, confidence is key.
