  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Each day I have the opportunity to network with different people around the business, every day is different and I always have something new to look forward to. Every 4 months I have the opportunity to move around the business, this allows me to try out most of the departments and make the decision of where I would like to choose for my future career. There are always new opportunities around the corner.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel that I have developed lots of new skills already even though I have only been with the company for 5 months. I have had the chance to develop my confidence and communication skills and I am no longer afraid to ask for help or question anything. I also feel that I have become a better person overall since working at Leonardo's and everyone that I have met so far has helped me achieve this.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far I am extremely enjoying my apprenticeship program, I feel as if everything that I say is heard and I am supported by everyone that I meet. In the light of the current Covid situation I feel as though a lot of people are in a similar situation as me and are also having to adapt to changes. The training team at Leonardo's are brilliant and they are always there to support me and my peers.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe that the Leonardo apprenticeship program is extremely organised and well prepared to take on trainees. Both departments that I have entered have had an induction pack which is great to read as you really get an insight into the specific area. Everyone is extremely friendly and willing to help me settle into the business. My college work is laid out in a timeline therefore it is easy for me to stay on track whilst also completing my day to day activities.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support, once a month I have a catch up with the trainee team who check that I am on track. I have 3 college calls a month including a 1 to 1 with my tutor who checks on my progress. Every week I have a team meeting and also talk to the person that I am working with most days. Also everyone I have met so far is willing to help and guide me through my apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Whenever I need help or support they are always there to guide me and help me find the answers to any of my questions. I always upload work and get feedback every month or two so I can see if I am making any progress or if there is anything that I need to improve on. I always feel extremely supported and I also feel as if my feedback always counts.

  • I feel as though the work that I complete with my college helps me towards my every day activities with work and gives me a greater understanding of my role. I also have a greater understanding of specific topics such as the rules and regulations, I feel as if my knowledge for the business is expanding every day.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Due to the current situation I have not had the opportunity to get involved in extra-curricular activities however it is something that I will definitely be interested in, in the future when it is possible. From what I have been told Leonardo's are always offering different opportunities to all of their staff members especially the trainee population.
