  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I move between different departments in the company and learn about all the different job roles they provide. I am given a new manager in each department who I speak with regularly and there is a team who I will work alongside as well. I aid them in their everyday tasks like making contact with external suppliers, compiling data and manipulating it into spreadsheets and joining team meetings. I am given my own work which I take responsibility for and complete.

  • My IT skills have improved during my apprenticeship as there is a lot of different programs and systems that you learn to use and you also get the opportunity to improve your current skills. I have also developed my communication skills in this role as you meet and speak to a lot of new people in different ways; sometimes by email, phone call, conference call or in real life.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There's been lots of support from college and Leonardo. Lessons and study happen monthly with the college which I complete alongside my workload and we were introduced to the job role steadily so we weren't thrown in at the deep end. We are always made aware of new placements and managers in advance and I have a meetings with my training manager and college assessor during each placement to see my progress.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has given me a better understanding of the company I am working for and how a business operates. It has also helped me gain knowledge about behaviors and situations businesses can get into if they do not take basic procedures seriously. Mainly I am creating college work on my experiences at work though.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • During my apprenticeship there is opportunities to get involved with charity fundraisers and there is also a group called AWASA dedicated to organizing fun events for people to get involved in like bowling or going to the cinema. Yearly, the AWASA committee also host a dinner for employees to attend. There are apprentice comms which all apprentices can choose to attend which is hosted by the training team. Where Leonardo is located there is many leisure activities around you.
