  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I was a member of different engagement teams thought my placement. Some of my daily tasks were to prepare EGAs, communicate with my team and have discussions on what shall be finished. Moreover had to update requests on connect when needed so that the client will provide documents required for the completion of audit. In addition, a daily task that I had was to update the trackers every morning. For example in the connect tracker I was adding the connect requests that we got documents back.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I had the opportunity to develop a lot of different skills throughout this period. First of all, due to the fact that I was working from home, I had developed my communication skills evenmore. I had to communicate throughout the day with my team to keep them posted about my progress but also communicate with them in order for them to coach me though new tasks I was not aware of how to complete them. Alongside with this point, I have also developed my teamwork skills as I worked with different audit teams and had the opportunity to see who each of them worked together to complete the work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have found that my programme is really well organised and student friendly. We have got the support needed thought the process of applying and carrying out the placement. Moreover, our first and second placements are from September to December which is not a busy period. This makes it more gradual for us as we are more prepared for our third and final placement which takes place during a busy period. I find this really helpful.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Each and everyone of us was assigned to a buddy that are employees of the PWC that have been flying start students. They knew exactly how we felt and they were always there to help. Also our career coach was the to go person for any issues and we also had the chance to speak with our CC every two weeks and discuss our progress and any issues that we were facing. Generally, every person I have worked with was really approachable and willing to help me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a really good training before the beginning of my placement. I had the chance to receive a virtual training due to the current situation and this turned really good. Every morning we were joining the call and three employees of the firm were responsible for our training. The sessions had small videos, small quizzes and pictures to keep us focused. We were also given small breaks during the day. We covered a lot of different and interesting areas throughout our training.
