  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The first was allocating in house and external labour to sites and helping my managers by filling in spreadsheets like the forecast and payment methods for agency workers. I didn't enjoy resources as much as I could, this was due to circumstances discussed with my learning provider. 2/5 for this role My coordinator role was amazing, I moved into this department along with the agency work, I also picked up sourcing labour for JNBs inhouse labour force, I gained various skilled and thoroughly enjoyed my short tenure in Recruitment 5/5 for this role

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have learned various skills like the different kinds of water and waste water treatment works, the competency schemes like CSCS CPCS EUSR and IPAF. I leanred the various devices for speaking to people and to be able to get them to give the right information and detail when interviewing them. I learned how to use devices like CV library to find the right candidates for a job on all levels of skills from every tier of the company

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work was pretty straightforward. My only issue being since being made redundant it has made it unfathomably difficult to complete my work as I cannot give evidence when there is no work for me to evidence. It has been fun getting a grasp of the real working world, but truly atrocious having thought I was setup for life, then having the rug pulled from under my feet and being back at square one due to a global pandemic. Yet also not enough safeguards for me as an apprentice

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is fairly well structured. But that doesn't really matter because I think they will be moving over to a different framework as of next year. I know what I'm supposed to do and when and how I am supposed to do it. I also know to what standard I am supposed to complete work so that it will be signed off as it is submitted the first time of doing the work

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i received adequate support from my employer. Especially during these abhorrently uncertain times, but it was only my bosses, I was furloughed but wasn't contacted at all during the 4 weeks that I was not in work. That being said while in my first role I felt I was constantly being challenged and undermined rather than supported. In contrast to this when in my role as a coordinator I was supported every step of the way, and was given every opportunity available to me

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider was the support I needed when struggling in my first role, I was ready to throw in the towel and they kept telling me to push on. As well as this they have helped me massively in teaching me how to complete my work to a good standard. So not only have both my tutors helped me with the issues at work they have helped me with getting the work done to a good standard

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like it has helped me with my utilisation of IT, primarily my use of Microsoft Office Applications. It's made me think about how I communicate with others whether it is in person, over email or message ir even voice call. It has just made me think about how to better myself in every aspect of work as well as, as a person. It has vastly helped me with my personal development too

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • no. There is no extra curricular activities for me to get involved in. This is due to the fact that I don't think they had anyways as far to my knowledge, also being due to the fact I no longer work there as previously stated.

  • 9a. Would you recommend JN Bentley to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is just a great company to work for. If you're in the right department with the right people it will be the best experience of your life. I couldn't praise them enough. My experience was personally only tainted due to a very minute fraction if circumstances. I think that as an apprentice at JN Bentley you are setup to succeed, and although unfortunately due to the current circumstances not being there anymore. I would return in a heartbeat

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JN Bentley?
  • Do it, no harm in trying. Give it your all, worst that can happen is you say you tried! If they have a job that you want to pursue. Just go for it. They are welcoming, kind, can have a laugh, and will do whatever it takes to do right by you.
