  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My most recent role was assisting my team starting up a new project, working in defining the as-are and the to-be client processes and how to get there. I assisted in collecting the project requirements and how to divide up the tasks to fit an agile methodology. I also partook in documenting the third party processes and how these will be applied to the client.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my organisation skills and time management skills. I learnt how to take useful minutes during meetings. It seems like a silly skill, but it is good to learn to distinguish chatter from relevant and valuable information. I learnt an entirely new pharmaceutical technology and how it will be used to meet client needs. I strengthened my efficiency and making sure that my work hours are full of useful tasks that will benefit the team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is never boring. There is always so much to do and learn. I feel a huge amount of support from our Apprenticeship Leaders. Their support encourages me to want to do my best all the time and strive for excellence. There are so many different aspects of this industry where this programme provide exposure to practically all of them. There is a great sense of community within our company, especially in the programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is as organised as can be. It is clear that it is not a programme where participants are hand-held throughout and told what to do every step of the way. This would have been very unhelpful for those participating in the programme as it doesn't promote independence and personal adult growth. Thankfully this programme is organised carefully, giving clear guidelines and expectations whilst providing enough space to participants to make of the experience what they will. However, a greater appreciation of how much time is required to dedicate to one's studies without impacting on their work-life and without causing difficulty in the work-life balance can still be improved.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has given me great support especially concerning things such as my dyslexia. They have given me a great deal of support and encouragement. I have never felt unconsidered or frustrating for them. They have always been very understanding and transparent. I trust them a great deal and am happy to be experiencing the programme with them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • it is occasionally difficult to find time to receive support from our training providers simply due to the limited time we spend at their facilities and the amount of work they already have. That being said I have seen an increased amount of support and encouragement from our training provider. They have put a lot of work into making the programme possible and achievable for us apprentices. However, it would be better to have a stronger relationship and easier forms of communication with training providers granted that we work all the other days of the week.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped me within my roles as it has familiarised me to various new terminologies that I was not used to. It gave me the insight that would have potentially not been provided given the high rate and importance of roles when working.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many extracurricular activities to be involved in, aside from the different social activities and societies there are also a lot of events that involve charity work and greater appreciation for the diversity of the company. Unfortunately I cannot always partake as they mostly occur on Thursdays which is unavailable for me due to personal reasons. There is a great sense of community, as I have mentioned before, which allows different people within the company to experience common values and common hobbies together.
