  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Continuous training to upskill in areas where there is work, support the development team with coding for new software being created, creating test scripts while testing a system, performing general admin tasks on software that I work with, getting to work with both back and and front end programming languages and using databases to implement these into the software that is being created, having regular calls with the client and the software development team, being responsible for creating a piece of code that will help to automate a process that would otherwise be very time consuming every day, creating a website

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme as the company I work for allows for you to try out a lot of different areas of software development so you can see which aspects of the role you like and don't like. You are able to specialise at a later point and go down a route that is best suited to you. The company culture is very friendly and they ensure that everyone is included and treat fairly. There are always events and talks to go to. I really enjoy my role at Accenture and would recommend it to anyone who wants to go down the software engineering route.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised and structured. There was a thorough induction that took place which initially gave us 6 weeks of training upfront to ensure that we had the basic knowledge to start the role. There is a lot of support both by the company and my training provider who are there to help with any issues I may have. There are a lot of support meetings available as we are all assigned career counsellors and we can set up meetings with them if we feel we need any support.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. Within the team that I have worked in, my manager has been very helpful in ensuring that I am given tasks that will allow me to develop a wide range of skills. They were very helpful when it came to studying and gave us the release time no bother. There is a wide range of support from anyone in the business and there are regular talks held to ensure that people know who to go to if they feel like they are struggling.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a lot of support from my training provider throughout my duration of the course. My tutor and assessor is always on hand to email or have a call with if I am struggling with anything and can provide guidance for any problems I may have. I have really enjoyed the content I have so far covered in my course with the training provider and I look forward to developing my knowledge further.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The things we have covered through my training provider cover the majority of aspects of what we are able to do in the day to day role. It has allowed me to learn a lot of theory behind what I do so I feel as though when I am working, I can achieve goals a lot quicker as I have a better understanding of what I am doing. I now know a lot more about my role and the company as a whole.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of extra curricular activities that we can participate in at work. These range from performing side of desk duties, attending company events and talks, social events and volunteering. This ensures that the employees can have a good work life balance and makes the workplace a nicer place to work. The events also allows for better networking and socialising with people who you may not have if you did not attend the event.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Accenture to a friend as I feel as though it is a great place to work no matter what level you are coming in at. With the apprenticeship programme, there is continuous support given both through the company and the training provider to assist with any problems you may have. The company is a lovely place to work and they really take care of all members of staff through events and initiatives.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • In the interview stage of the application process, ensure that you are well prepared and are enthusiastic about the programme to let them know that this is a right fit for you. The assessment day was so much better than other companies I have been for and I only had an assessment with 2 other people which allowed for the assessors to chat to you more 1 to 1. The onboarding process took place after I got offered a place. Make sure to complete all of the onboarding tasks as soon as you receive them to prevent any delays with your start date. The experience you get working for this company is great and you are able to have so many opportunities to work in different locations and on different projects. I would have liked to have been told about how the company works with the bench process where you go when you roll off a project and start to look for a new one. This is where you upskill and train in different areas while you are unassigned to help you in getting a new role.
