  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a mechatronics engineer I am faced with various problems in my job role. It involves problem solving, preventative maintenance activities and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment. This makes everyday unique as there is a new problem to solve each day. Whilst at college I have learnt basic skills to bring into the company and be competent to work in the factory.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program overall is very well structured and makes a lot of sense inline with your progression. You have support which is easily accessible. You are given a clear outline of the program, what you’ll be doing, where and what skills you’ll develop. The college organisation can differ and through my experience needs a little more work in terms of the timetabling.

  • On site there is a gym in which you can use and socialise in after your shift. As apprentices we tend to organise and meet up by our own doing to play sports etc. At the start of the apprenticeship we was required to take part in a week outward bound trip.
