  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I liaise with people in the organisation to arrange meetings and write up agendas. In the meetings I take minutes and gather any actions and distribute this afterwards. I also help my team with optimising documents and spreadsheets so that data can be extracted more efficiently and so that it is user friendly. Part of my day is also gathering evidence towards my NVQ, this can include looking for emails that demonstrate good use of English skills and written communication.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to use the O365 package more effectively, one specific piece of that package that I have learnt is OneNote - this helps me take minutes more efficiently and stay organised. An existing skill I have developed is my presenting ability. As part of the apprenticeship we have regular cohort meetings, in which we are asked to create a slide and talk about it in the meeting, this has helped me feel more confident in presenting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying the programme, the level of support provided is phenomenal. I have been placed in a really lovely team who are encouraging and are able to guide me if I am unsure of anything. The work I am being provided with is stretching and challenging without being unduly stressful.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well structured, I am well aware of the timelines and what must be completed by each milestone. The tool being used clearly outlines the percentage of progress being made with each piece of work submitted. From the outset I was told how long each placement would be and if there have ever been reasons for changing the length of these I have been well informed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support received from my employer is outstanding, they have provided different levels of support and have ensured that there is a wide support network available. There are different people who are able to support with different problems. I am also encouraged to use the rest of the cohort as a support network which helps because we are all in the same position.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have been assigned a talent coach who is available to help with any queries I have with any tasks set. My talent coach also conducts catch ups to check up on the progress I am making and to ensure I am feeling confident in the work I am producing as well as knowing what I need to do to prepare for any assessments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The tasks assigned are relevant to my role and so I am able to apply the learning to my day to day role. There are also opportunities to consolidate the learning with assignment tasks so that the information within the learning isn’t just forgotten once the knowledge test is completed.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of out of hours activities to take part in. The cohort I am in are very social and so we spend time together relaxing and socialising together after work and at lunch. There are sports teams to join as well as networks which are essentially focus groups.
