Speaking to a reseller/distributor, checking quotes have been both sent and received, forecasting deals, dealing with customer queries, etc.
Loads have improved; excel skills, presenting skills, knowledge of sales in general, knowledge of the IT industry as a whole. New skills; use of tools such as SAP, RMT, SFDC. Many new sales techniques.
I am really enjoying my program, I've been here over a year now and I can't believe my luck finding an apprenticeship of this quality. My team is amazing, the work is proactive which I enjoy, there's loads of young people and it has beyond met expectations.
At the beginning, it wasn't as structured as it was now as I was one of the first sales apprentices but I'm glad I got to be one of the few to pave the way for new and future apprentices.
As much as I need, whenever I'm stuck or need help with anything I can ask absolutely anyone in the organisation for help and they always find time to help.
We have a dedicated 'training mentor' who is always just an email away from any support/help needed which is always nice to know.
The skills learned in my apprenticeship have helped me all the way in my role, specifically the sales side of it.
There isn't an awful lot of regular extra-curricular activities I can think of, there's a Bootcamp every Thursday lunchtime I believe and they run several one off events.
Yes
1. Career prospects. 2. Sales - I only know a few people in sales and feel it needs to be more well known. 3. So many young people in the organisation. 4. HPE really look after their employees with loads of benefits.
Make sure to research the company/role, practice interview questions (even though you have no idea what they'll ask in the interview, practice some similar to help you feel more prepared), stay calm and be yourself in the assessment days/interviews, a good firm handshake - nothings worse than a sloppy handshake, and lastly, make sure you look presentable and professional.
