  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves helping customers with their daily needs, for e.g. managing their money, giving them factual information about products or services available to them, and helping them build confidence with digital technology to ensure they can maximise all the ways available to service and access our products. I also help identify, assess and manage risk to ensure we keep our customers, ourselves and the bank safe.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Technological skills have been advanced , as-well as my understanding and use of the different programs we can use for e.g PowerPoint etc. I have greatly improved with my confidence and this has helped to build up my career development plan for where I want to be. I’m only part way through my apprenticeship so this will widen the more I go through the course

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program so far, it’s great being able to understand the banking sector in a better way, and certainly a lot more detail so far, it helps you understand why we are always improving and changing things, and why digital is so current and important for people to use. It’s great to meet people from all different roles from all different places too.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • This cohort seems to be a new structure, and from speaking to previous cohorts the improvements is really good. I think the programs is structured well, with plenty of help as you go thorough. I look forwards to the course continuing once this challenge we are all currently facing is over.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have had from my employer is great, my management team are understanding and interested in what I do and so are my colleagues, I work in a large branch and I think this helps, as there is a lot of skill within the branch which helps bring out the skills in yourself.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is always at the end of a call and email should I need them, our 1-1s were after each submission completed, and they were in depth and always pushing you to be the best you can possibly be. I will hopefully be able to give more information as I proceed further with my course.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it really helps, like I say I am only a quarter of the way through my course, however the impact of what I am learning so far has been evidenced when I am helping my customers and colleagues, not only this my confidence and understanding has grown massively already.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my branch, we organise a team night out every so often to keep engaged with each other whilst letting our hairs down a little bit, it’s great to be in such a large team who are also so close and supportive and generally care for each other. We are always going activities within the branch like health days brining in healthy food or charity days where we really maximise activities we do to ensure we all take part and enjoy ourselves too

  • 9a. Would you recommend Santander to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have worked for the company for 14 years, and since the day o started I find they are supportive, they encourage you to teach your goals and ensure you have the right support in place to do so, we have fear discount and benefits in place for staff too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Santander?
  • Start from a customer service adviser and work your way up, the more roles you involve yourself in the more understanding you have and the more you can help your colleagues, if there are any courses and apprenticeships, get involved, it only strengthens you
