  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role invloves preparing all the paperwork for new starters in the company, including the induction and ensuring the correct PPE and unfiform is provided. Once the new starter has completed their legal documentation, I ahve to ensure that they are accuartley added to all of our systems, ensuring all of their data is correct and sored sufficiently. I monitoring all sicknesses, RTW's, ECN's and contract changes within the company, esnuring this is correctly updated on our systems. Alongside, monitoring new starters probation periods, ensuring all evaluations are completed thoroughly and on time. I do thid by sending out a weekly report to all managers, making them aware of when their employees next evaluation is due. Also, I monitor the engagement of people. This invloves organising/helping with annual events which we hold to engage the employees. We make to posters also to advertsie the events. Alongside this, we arrange all of the EOM, (Employee of the Month), ensuring that a sustatial number nominations come from employees, voting for the next EOM. Also, we give birthday cards and Length of Service awards to employees, which requires orgnaisong rewards for them. Furthermore, we monitor the shopping for both my own site and all 16 outbabes we have.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained alot of confidence, partically within within my role and understanding how to effectivley monitor employees performance. I have a greater understanding of how to be more professional and speak out when i believe a procedure is not being followed correctly. The ability to talk amougst people has become alot easier and i feel more confident expressing my views on processes we have.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I enjoy learning about how to become a human resource/HR professional and adapting this within my role at work. Learning on the job, i think is the most effective way in terms of learning, as i can adapt things i have learnt from work to my learning, to have a better understaning and i can adaprt the things ive learnt from college into my job. Both my colleauges and assessors are very supportive and push me to do better.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well strcutured. The knowlegde and learning is organised and prepared in an effective way, to help to achevive the best results. I think the professional discussion at the end of the programme is a fabualous idea, as this helps to collaberate everything that i have learnt and enables myslef to become invloved in a project, which helps to drive my confidence and learning.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Alot of support. If i am in need of any help or support, i know that my employer will try as hard as they can to get me the support i require. In the amount of efforts my colleauges, particually my manger has gone through to help me with my work is amazing and i am very greatful that i have this kind of support. My manager has taken up many hours of her hours to help with with my work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again, the support is unbelievable. My college assessors take many of their personal hours to help me with work i may not have completley understood and do not give up until i am satisfied. I attended regualar 1-1 meetings with my lecturer about work from class and she was very supportive and thorough.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that the qualification opens my eyes alot in terms of what is actually going on in the world in terms of legislations and the course is teaching me how to become a more professional within my role. The knowlegde i am gaining from the course, allows me to adapt this within my role and ammend procedure, i think need to be altered to be more effective.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, we have a promgramme called the 'Star programme', which helps to enhance people in terms of their skills, knowlegde and confidence and to build good relationships with different people. Also, the business holds various events, such as chariety football matches and actaivites which help with social and communication skills.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The business is full of opportunties and support and i believe the business pushes people to be the best version of themselves. If you have an concerns about anything, they are open ears and do anythng to help resolve the problem. AO look after their employees and always engage their staff to make it enjoyable for all. They are a fabulous company!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AO?
  • If you dont get in the first time, keep trying, as you wont regret it.
