  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am responsible for managing the flying hour contract between predominantly TUI Airways and Boeing. I am also an escalation point for all 5 TUI group airlines with Boeing and have to manage issues and problems through to conclusion and up through management within TUI and Boeing. I am also responsible for managing repair vendors both in the UK and across the world.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme so far, and hope that I will continue to enjoy the course and programme. I am enjoying connecting with other people across the business and learning new ways of working and managing the workload from hearing how others have done this. I have also improved my time management whilst working on the course and programme

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure and organisation of my programme has been hit and miss. When initially starting, I had no contact from my assigned assessor for 3 months. This was flagged on numerous occasions and eventually I along with others was assigned another assessor. This was a lot better, however after several months this assessor left to another job due to personal reasons. I was then assigned a 3rd assessor, and after a few months, this assessor also left to another job. I am now being managed internally at TUI.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support from my employer has been mixed. my immediate line managers haven't always had time to support as much as they could have done. Support through the internal apprenticeship team has been better over the last couple of months now it is all being managed internally. Although at times can still be lacking.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I haven't been receiving a lot of support from the training provider due to the constant changes of external assessors and lack of contact initially when starting the course. Now I am being managed internally at TUI, the contact from the external provider has reduced further and this is all done through the internal apprenticeship team at TUI.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Through the work set through the training provider, I have learnt new skills and I have started to use these within my daily work life. I have noticed that these have had a positive impact and others have noticed this as well. It has also helped me to identify where others are not using best practice in their daily life and have coached others to improve their working styles as well.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have been involved in some committee groups at work. These are linked with community work that the company carries out as well as charitable work within the business and linking this in with external work I have already been doing as well. I have also been selected to attend professional exhibitions and events as well, and this has helped with networking with other companies and suppliers.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • TUI is a great place work and there are lots of opportunities internally to move around the business and develop yourself if this is what you want to do. The people within in TUI are all unique and inspiring and will go out of their way to help each other and always pull together in times of crisis

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • I would really encourage others to apply to work for TUI as it is such a great place to work and the working life and atmosphere are great and really positive and encouraging. The colleagues always help each other out and no-one is left on their own to fend for themselves.
