My role includes rotating through the skills academy gaining fundamental electrical and mechanical engineering skills, and periodic placements at university studying a BEng mechanical engineering with nuclear science.
I’ve developed existing skills and learned some new skills such as electronic and electrical skills, wiring, soldering etc..
I enjoy it a lot. Working with like-minded people, learning new skills and growing academically every day.
The programme is new so some aspects are a matter of trial and error, however the company’s professional approach make this a smooth experience.
I receive a great deal of support from my employer and from my line manager who are supportive and approachable.
A great deal of support. Our working day is altered depending on what we need, we’re giving time to work on assignments and help is constantly available.
Extremely well. Without the training I would not be able to carry out my role working with radioactive materials.
There is grounds that are part of site specifically for that purpose. The ‘rec-soc’ is for socialising with a gym, bar, and sports fields. There are clubs for all kinds of activities and often there are networking events that we are encouraged to attend.
