  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Technology degree apprentice. At work, my title is Business and Technology New Associate (Level 13). Currently, while not on a project, I am undergoing some training in AWS.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. I have developed on my verbal communication skills immensely. Accenture is a very people-oriented company and being able to network with people can be very advantageous. As a result, I have learnt to get in contact with people and ask for help which leads to a built rapport. I have also developed on my technical skills - we are currently learning how to develop a website using html and css at university. Being interested in this coding language lead me to want to do my own research thus advancing in my coding capabilities.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program a lot. I love how it fits my ideal balance of work and unvieristy, with 1 day of uni and 4 days of work. I'm glad i get to experience both because that element of 'what if' is elimiated i.e 'what if i went to university' etc. I also enjoy my cohort - I've made great friends that are supportive and helpful much like the working culture in Accenture. The working culture is amazing - I feel it is important that your place of work has a supportive and uplifting aura as that is what makes an employee prone to work effectively.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • a relatively good amount of support. the HR department are excellent for answering enquiries. We have a team that focus on the apprentices and seeing how they get on in a weekly basis. this is an online call that allows apprentices to raise any concerns they may have, and a chance for us to share what we have been doing in that week. We get assigned Career Councillors - this is someone who is a lot more senior (mine is a line manager and she's great) and you can discuss the future of your career as they help you plan and execute your goals. We also get buddies - this is another apprentice from the year above or two who can help you understand more about life at accenture as an apprentice. They are extremely helpful and you can message them any time (within reason) in a less professional capacity.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • univeristy support is fairly good. It really does depend on the teacher you get but from the two terms I have been at university, I can say there are a majority of teachers that will actively help you if you go to them and ask. It's all about taking the initiative. In terms for the lectures and tutorials themselves, they are fairly understandable at times but I always recommend reading ahead of class to get a better understanding. The tutorials are always the best time to ask as many questions because these are the allocated hours for consolidating the content taught in the most recent lecture :)

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Some of the modules such as learning Java (coding language) is helpful for when looking into projects as it shows the current technical skills you are excising. The university side of things definitely helps in the workings in Accenture because it means I have to effectively manage my time so that I don't fall behind.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes! there is a lot of events accenture holds. The company is very people orientated is does not only revolve around the work we do on a day-to-day basis. Accenture loves bringing together a community of people and having a good time. There are many different social events that are really exciting and impressive to get into. Ones I've been to which I loved was organised by the African and Caribbean Network (AACN) during black history month. It was held in Hilton Hotel and there were amazing speakers (most from Accenture) exploring what 'black' means to them. There was great food too!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an amazing experience and an unorthodox way of learning. Doing a degree apprenticeship in general is definitely a good way to go. It allows students to learn in a different setting; in a more practical manner. Coming to Accenture you are exposed to the different areas of tech and therefore you have the flexibility and freedom to choose which area you like. Coming to Accenture and by the end of the 3 year course you will have 3 years worth of work experience in a leading consultancy and technology firm, a degree fully paid for and with experiences you wouldn't get anywhere else :)

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • write down as much experience you have done even if it was go to an event and make sure to say what did that experience teach you + the skills you've developed and or expanded on. strongly express your interest and passion for technology and make sure you have the evidence to back it up i.e what have you been doing to feed that curiosity in technology (bare in mind this doesn't mean you need to have thorough experience in technology because this apprenticeship is for the sole purpose of delving into the tech sphere so it could be things such as watching youtube videos on coding or reading a book that made you question a few things etc)
