  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work on a client account site 4 days a week, and go to university 1 day a week. I join 2-3 meetings with the client each day and work with quite a big Accenture team. Currently I work as part of a release management team. This involves working with different project managers to make sure that they are able to deliver their projects in the relevant releases.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have had the opportunity to learn how to develop dashboards using Qlik and how to apply machine learning with Python. At university I was taught SQL and Java but I have not had to use this in my role so far. There have been various other training opportunities, such as the DevOps training that I attended earlier this year.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the apprenticeship. I will hopefully be graduating this summer and I have been able to build a professional network. I like that I have been able to experience the 'student life' at the same time as working and earning a great salary.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship is mostly very well structured. The induction and training that apprentices receive is great. The modules that I have studied at university have helped me complete my role. There are plenty of online training courses available to all employees and line managers are aware that apprentices need time to study for their exams and complete the coursework for university.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support system in place is effective and apprentices receive guidance with their daily work where required, as well as from university lecturers. Every employee also has a career counselor who is there to help them decide which roles would be beneficial for their progression

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Apprentices go to university one day a week where we attend lectures and complete tutorials. We are supported by the lecturers for each module and by the overall apprenticeship programme leader. We are able to contact lecturers via email and Microsoft Teams throughout the week when we are not attending university.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like the modules that I have studied at university have taught me the basic knowledge that I need to work in the technology industry, and I have been able to apply some practical skills to my daily role. For example, I learnt about cyber security at university and I was able to confidently talk about security requirements in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The account that I work on has a dedicated team that plans social, professional network and training events. I am part of the team that plans the events and I enjoy planning activities that the whole account can enjoy, such as Go-Karting, Quarterly Parties and Team Escape Room Challenges.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Accenture is a great place to work because employees are able to take their 'whole self' to work and be who they are. Apprentices are valued by their teams in the same way that 'normal' employees are and are given as much support as they might need and want.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Be honest! There is absolutely no point applying for a role at Accenture if you are not passionate about the work that you will be doing. Also, expect to participate in awesome other initiatives at work, not just your 9-5 role. For example, there are some great innovation clubs, social events and volunteering opportunities.
