  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently not on a project so a day to day basis can be unique for every day. I apply for different roles, have some online training on technologies and skills I want to upscale myself in and I also have the opportunity to engage and volunteer in a range of events that showcase the firm for school leavers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The course from my training provider has definitely taught me many things that I did not know about. I believe I am constantly learning in this environment. However, not being on a project at work means that I am not able to gain as many skills as I intend to as of yet.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the balance between working and studying. Being able to take part in many different networks and events. I like it that I have a lot of people my age to relate to and engage with at the office. People are also always very keen to help out if you need anything.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not too well organised. I feel like I was thrown inside the deep end and although that could be beneficial in most cases, in this case I don't think it is. We are asked to apply for roles within the company on a weekly basis but roles are scarce and the employers that want apprentices even less. I think we should have been given projects or timetables with different activities that would upscale us in any way once we joined. A list of trainings that would be useful to take part in...

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a career councellor as well as a buddy who I contact about work related subjects. My buddy is also an apprentice so can relate to my situation quite well. Everyone at the workplace is always very supportive and happy to help. Despite this, I am still unassigned and have not joined a project as of yet.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lecturers and tutors answer emails really fast and are always keen to help out. No questions are left unanswered. Training provider also performs term feedback where course representatives such as myself are able to voice our concerns which are well taken into consideration. As well as this, the library provides free ebooks for all our modules.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Coming from a non tech background, my modules at university are the main source of knowledge that I can use to understand terms and concepts at work. It definitely gives me an insight into the different technologies available at Accenture and makes it easier to have a conversation with someone in the technology field like most employees at Accenture. I think the course is well-tailored for our roles.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many networks and communities at work that organise a range of events. I believe it is also very easy to create a network if it does not already exist. From photography network to religious networks or ethnic group communities, all play a big role at Accenture. For example I have been to a Mandala art class organised by the Asian Pacific network group a few weeks ago and an International Women's day breakfast with senior leads from Accenture.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think this programme is the best thing I could have taken part to, post sixth form. I believe I am gaining in every way; from a completely funded degree, to a dive into the workforce, heaps of great events, free constructive trainings and a very supportive and friendly working culture.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Be enthusiastic, show that you want to be part of Accenture. Showcase your interest for technology and back it up by researching on evolving technologies that interest you. Research well on Accenture so you can be the most comfortable at the assessment centres and interview processes. Smile and most of all have fun!
