  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In the office day to day roles vary greatly depending on the current placement area. This can be from practical hands on work to certification documents for aircraft to CAD modeling. Some days are also spent at uni completing a bachelors degree.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Developed communication skills greatly both with how to communicate within the company and to people outside. From a technical stand point gaining the experience while working has been hugely valuable to understand what I specifically excel at as well as what I enjoy.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The placement aspect of the program is great, getting to be a part of the working world is a great way to learn, and you get supported as well as pushed in that. The college/uni side has its frustrations but gives the education fundamentals.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation and structure to the program has been improving the whole time I have been there. There is still more work to do but in general it is now pretty good. There is a lot of apprentice lead aspects to the course which enables us to develop to.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In work we have as much support as we need to be able to be a valuable part of the business. At uni/college there is less support from the business but it is there when needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive as much support as we need like any other student.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Depends greatly on the area that you work in. I have found very little of it useful in the workplace so far but others have used it every day.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, although I do not get involved that much myself. The events that I have been to have been really good fun though!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The ability to learn while studying in an apprenticeship is a brilliant way to learn. Airbus is has a lot of opportunities in different areas because of the size of the company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
  • Prepare well for the interview, know the company, but be yourself. For the group exercise, remember you are not judged on how well you do the exercise but how well you work together!
