  • Work in In Vivo Science and Delivery team which works in pharmacokinetics and looking at how drugs are metabolised in the body.

  • Many different skills in procedural work and surgery training as well as lab based skills in cDNA synthesis and PCR.

  • My team are very welcoming and encouraging

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • could be more organised however the responsibility of having myself drive where I want my apprenticeship go/ what skills I want to learn and develop gives me sense of freedom and independence.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Meet with manager every month to discuss progress. I also find meeting my supervisor every month useful to talk about things I may not be comfortable asking my manager and to get advise on other parts of my apprenticeship and information about other parts of the company.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My university supervisors visits every few months and makes sure we are coping with workload and not getting behind in studies. The online tutors provide good feedback on assignments however can be a bit vague and slow at replies.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • While some modules are relevant to my job other modules have been interesting and useful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a few apprentice social organised through NxtGen every few months and we are often involved in placement students socials too, which can be a good way to meet new people. Departments often do breakfasts in order for everyone in departments to network and get to know everyone
