  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently an Airbus flight physics undergraduate engineering apprentice. Throughout the apprenticeship I will spend time in placements in some of the teams within the Flight Physics area of the company. I am currently in the Filton Wind Tunnel.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so much from the people I work with. Essential this apprenticeship has helped to teach me fundamental engineering skillset that I can build upon over the rest of my apprenticeship and my career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program is very enjoyable. At Airbus there is a large cohort of apprentices who are all like minded to, so you will definitely make friends. The program its self has so much variety and constant challenges that you remain engaged and enjoy the work you are doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well organised and it has a structure that is logical and beneficial to the apprentice.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is as much support as you could need. You will have an early careers manager and a manager for each of your individual placements. There is always someone to speak to if you have any issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The college gives a good level of support. There are people you can speak to regarding academic concerns.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The degree is very helpful it gives you an understanding of what the people around you in the workplace are doing. If you have zero engineering experience the NVQ would be useful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many social events and activities as Airbus.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Airbus to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a very good apprenticeship combining the vital learning that needs to be completed with enjoyment and variation.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Airbus?
  • Do not be nervous to show your initiative. Also get good at your fundamental maths you will be using it a lot throughout the degree and the workplace.
