My role is similar to that of a trainee and everyday can really vary. Apprentices are able to get involved in a variety of tasks including legal research, preparing documents for execution, taking attendance notes and drafting contracts.
The apprenticeship has helped me develop a variety of skills including presentation skills, research skills and drafting skills.
I am really enjoying the Solicitor Apprentice program. I did not expect to be able to get involved with such a variety of work at such an early stage in the apprenticeship, and I really value how invested the firm is in their apprentices.
The apprenticeship is well structured. We have one day a week for study which allows apprentices to have a good work study balance. Within the firm, we do year long seats in our legal department.
Burges Salmon is very supportive. Lawyers provide valuable feedback on tasks and supervisors are excellent at ensuring you have a variety of work to do.
BPP is supportive and lecturers are vey quick at responding to any queries regarding course content.
Studying alongside working at Burges Salmon has helped me to understand how the law is applied in practice. We also do practical modules such as legal research and this has helped me in conducting research at work.
There are always plenty of extra curricular activities to get involved in both firmwide and in department.

The culture at Burges Salmon makes it a great place to work.
Be confident and think about how your experiences so far have allowed you to develop transferable skills that could be applied working in a law firm.
