  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a trainee associate in Corporate Tax which means I work with some of the largest listed companies in the market. I have more recently branched out into private business / private clients which has meant I have been able to look after high net worth individuals. Day to day, I frequently communicate with clients providing continued support with the opportunity to regularly attend client meetings in person. This exposure has not only developed my client formality skills but has also enabled me to gain a real insight into the complex and interesting world of global economics and the tax consequences impacting my clients on a daily basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • From the great exposure I have had, my skills have developed and continue to develop on a daily basis here at PwC. I am given lots of opportunities to enhance my networking ability as well as responsibility in the sense of important client work needing to be completed to a deadline.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I had applied to go to university, with the intention to study Economics, but had completed a weeks work experience at PwC prior to joining them. I personally think I have made the right and best decision for myself to join PwC rather than go to university. I am continuing to learn and develop through client work as well as gain valuable qualifications whilst also earning an extremely competitive salary.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised and structured. Apprentices are assigned a career coach which is there to help them settle in and adapt to, what seems to be daunting, a corporate lifestyle. I am always given regular updates, well in advance, so I can plan my days efficiently around training and college.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive continued support from my employer through weekly capacity meetings where work can be delegated to those who may have a little more free time to help out with work. This helps those who have lots on whilst also giving exposure to those who may not be as busy.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are given lots of support when going through college. PwC understand this is priority so help us balance client work with revision and studying. Colleagues are very understanding and are always willing to take time out of their day to help us with a particular topic that may be difficult and run us through it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification, ATT, has helped massively in my role. I have successfully applied my course knowledge into my day to day work. This has helped me provide a better standard of work to my clients which is always fulfilling. I have been able to aid my colleagues also if they have a question.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots to get involved with outside of work. PwC have a team which regularly pits on activities such as film nights and huge quizzes. Every Wednesday I play football with my colleagues whilst I know a lot get involved with yoga at lunch time! Most Friday's people go out for drinks also!
